Donnie Earns His Canine Good Citizen Award!
Donnie, a collie/retriever mix, is one shelter dog who has stolen the hearts of everyone he meets. His foster parents, Mick and Kendra, have been working with him on basic obedience commands and manners. This evening Donnie passed the test for a Canine Good Citizen! Donnie looks rather proud of himself in the picture, don't you think? Donnie is still looking for his forever home so please consider this boy for your next four-legged family member.

Makes you wonder how many more "diamonds in the rough" we have at the shelter? Donnie is a good example of what can be accomplished with a little work. Thanks, Kendra and Mick for taking Donnie in and helping him achieve his potential! I wish we had a couple dozen more foster homes like yours!
Thanks, Rick. Like I said that night when I took him home to foster... I just had a "feeling" about Donnie. There are many diamonds waiting to be discovered at shelters and rescues. But this isn't all Mick and me. Thanks to all the volunteers who walk the dogs, Donnie learned very valuable leash-walking and social skills in his couple months at the shelter. Those positive experiences definitely fast-tracked our work with him! Every volunteer who spent some time with Donnie should take pride in their part of this. And Donnie says "thank you" to all of them!
